No, I’m not talking about the natural disasters (of course he is anti-disasters, right?), but the San Jose Earthquakes and the Chicago Fire. Our friends over at Behind the Badge posted a lovely introductory video of Ivan Guerrero (below). He talks about how it is difficult to only practice one day with a team before playing in a game with them, but that he’s a professional and is ready to play. Great! I can get behind professionalism. When asked about the trade from San Jose to DC, his response: For me, [DC United] is the best team in the league. Yes, that is DC United who currently sits 11 points off the lead in the East (admittedly 7 points above former team San Jose), has lost their last 4 games, and currently has a losing record for the season in MLS play. BREAKING: Blanco suspended for 2 yrs from US Open Cup
30 07 2008The US Soccer Federation adjudication and discipline panel has ruled that the Chicago Fire’s DP and leading man, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, has been banned for 2 years from US Open Cup play as punishment for his conduct at the July 8 quarterfinal game. More details below…

Sierra Mist GOW Thoughts – no Dynamo =(
25 08 2008So there was the lovely Dynamo 4-0 win against Chivas on Wednesday, followed by the ugly 3-0 defeat against the Red Bulls on Saturday. And Jeff and I have both had to work really hard the past week – so few posts. In short, the week started out good and ended crappy. So to cheer myself up, I decided to watch the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week nominees and vote, even though no Dynamo made the cut.
